What I think your favorite mixed drink says about you

A feel like when we are out to dinner, what drink you order can tell me a lot about the person who ordered it. Now this is not like my usual content, but I thought it would be fun to take some of the most popular drinks of 2025 and 2026 and make a list and I will give you my opinion of what I think about them and what it tells me about you:) This is all in good fun and I promise that if you order something I don’t like we can still be friends <3

1. Espresso Martini

The espresso martini is arguably the most popular drink right now. I feel like every time I go out, I see at least one person sipping on one. Honestly, I love an espresso martini, but I can also call a spade a spade… this drink is for the basic people out there. There’s nothing to be ashamed about if you are basic, I am too lol. Everyone is getting these for a reason! I see people who drink espresso martini’s as people who like their coffee in the mornings to-go. They enjoy an iced coffee, maybe an iced latte, but I’m leaning more towards a cold brew because its a bit stronger. Idk if this makes any sense but hear me out, but people who drink espresso martinis give me the vibes of the person who was in the popular clique in high school, but the nice one. The person that made you say, “so and so is so nice, I wonder why they hang out with them?”

2. Aperol Spritz

My Aperol Spritz lovers are romanticizing life ALL THE TIME (and that’s not a bad thing). They feel connected to the world and live life to the fullest. The aren’t afraid to boast a little but it’s tasteful enough to say, “okay yeah!” When I think of an Aperol Spritz drinker I think of sunglasses on, laughing a little too loud, and always bringing up the mood. I feel like an optimist loves an aperol spritz, they are always looking on the bright side of things. If you drink this, there is a certain brightness to you, you light up a room when you walk in. People will remember you for you for your banter and your lighthearted jokes. Now if you drink a Campari Spritz, you fall into this category but have a little more edge and mystery to you. You still romanticize everything, but you also aren’t afraid to keep it real.

3. Margarita

AYEEEE!!!! My margarita drinkers ARE the party. I mean… it’s tequila. Someone who drinks a “marg” is there for a good time. They are hooting and they are hollering. This is the person that you have to watch all evening because they are suddenly a social butterfly and want to talk to everyone. This is also the person most likely to have a full blown crash out by the end of the night. I fall into this category so I may be a bit biased, but a margarita has never failed to cheer me up. You can also always find a good deal on a margarita. Margaritas are also so versatile, you can get frozen or on the rocks, various flavors, salt or sugar rim, the options are endless. If I had to sum up a margarita drinker, you are down to clown. You don’t know exactly what you are going to get, but you will have a fun night with the person drinking a margarita.

4. Vodka + [fill in the blank]

So this one is very interesting to me. It is becoming more and more popular to order vodka and a mixer (i.e. vodka soda, vodka water). So I have to break this one down a little.

The beginner- If you are ordering Vodka Cranberry/Orange/Lime, hi! This is likely a newbie who is just starting to drink (and that’s okay, i love a vodka cranberry). You are still trying to find your drink and aren’t familiar with other liquors. You play it super safe, you love an old reliable. This one tastes good, you know what you are getting, and that’s that!

For the Vodka waters/soda drinkers… Babes, you may have a problem:) Okay okay, that might be too much but if you are going out and order a vodka water, I will be giving you major side eye. I don’t think anyone likes the taste of alcohol like that. You know your way around a bar. I think you and the margarita drinker would be great friends, y’all have fun!

5. Old Fashioned

You are an old man. I don’t have much after that. You are either talking about what crops you harvested this year or are crunching numbers on the stock market. You enjoy the simple pleasures in life. No need for lots of frills. I also find this drink to be very performative. I feel like if you are ordering this drink, you want everyone around you to know it. Someone who drinks an old fashioned will sit and try to convince you that an old fashioned is a good drink… but it’s not:)

6. Dirty Martini

You are the type of person that wears sunglasses inside at the bar. You also want everyone to know that you are drinking a dirty martini. To me, the dirty martini is THE performative drink. You know you think you’re doing something by saying, “make it extra dirty” or “make it filthy”. Like we get it, you like a nasty drink, it’s okay! People would describe you as the black cat friend of the friend group. You have a sultry vibe to you. You definitely aren’t afraid of what people say about you and love that attention.

7. Long Island Iced Tea

This is for the indecisive baddie of the group!! “Hey, where do you want to go tonight?” “Do you have anything in mind?” “What vibe are we going for?” If you can’t answer any of these questions then BAM, drink a long island iced tea. It’s got everything all in one! No need to decide when you can just drink them all. This is for a nervous drinker at the bar. You don’t know what to order so you say, “uhh long island please” and we love that. I think that long island iced tea gets a bad reputation for being a trashy drink or just for people trying to get drunk fast, but I think there are definitely ways to do that without ordering a long island. When someone orders this, they don’t boast about ordering it. To me, it takes a brave soul to order this mixed drink. You can expect fun, whimsy, and a little wacky energy from a long island iced tea drinker.

8. Gin and Tonic

The gin and tonic drinker is a dreamer. When I say this, I mean that they think they are doing something by ordering a gin and tonic. You act like you are uppity because you are drinking a gin and tonic. When I think of gin and tonic, I think of someone who wants people to think that they have money or that they can afford or that they are better than the rest of the crowd. These drinkers aren’t the one’s to go crazy and overdrink, if anything they order one or maybe two drinks and that’s it. If you are young and ordering a gin and tonic, you might be going through something. A gin and tonic is meant for a country club or sunglasses on while crying. This drink has a little bit of romanticizing about it too. Again, people who order a gin and tonic really think they are above the others because they are drinking gin. Gin is sophisticated… not trashy like tequila or basic like vodka. Ordering a gin and tonic is like ordering a salad for dinner, you think you look cool doing it, it can taste good sometimes, but it is not for everyone in the group.
